That letter cost $7 to mail. Certified mail with signature and return receipt required. Keeps them honest I suppose.

Hopefully the lady that corrected the mistake on my record doesn't get blasted for it. I really don't want anyone but the ones that screwwed up to lose their jobs. It sucks to be unemployed, but maybe some of the people working for the state need to find a job with a bit less power, say, scrubbing toilets at Wal-Mart. They wouldn't be able to accidently have my truck impounded if they were cleaning toilets rather than cleaning archives.

Thanks for the luck. I'll probably need it before this is all over.

lol, and the amendment to the citation showed up in the mail. No more misdemeanor for me!

I hear ya there it seem like they put some dumb ass folks to work for the government .Why is this? I dont know. From the dmv, tag office, you name it then they are so slow when you go because they know the job is going to be there . I think that is a gov employee gets 30 complaints then they should be let go . If we pay them, we should be able to get reed of them. :?:

True. Maybe they should be paid based on how many successful/correct transactions they can process in a day. Like mechanics. Have a set amount of time each process should take, pay them for that time, and if they screw up, make them pay for the mistake, or if they take care of business, they take home more pay.
Flat Rate pay system?
Then again, I think that's how everyone should be paid... including the state legislature. How many months late were they on the state budget?

Oh, and if they screw up this bad, they should be demoted to janitor. (lol, I hate cleaning toilets, if everyone can't tell)

Alright, I got the signature confirmation letter back, and it's dated October 17, 2009. So, the DMV has until the 16th of November.

Okay, so when the police officer guestimated (no radar) my speed on the ticket, he wrote down 60mph. lol, I don't think a LUV can get to 60 in the space of 200yards or something thereabouts (I was stopped at a stoplight just before)... a stocker like mine anyhow.

Here's the place: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source= ... 9&t=h&z=17
I started at the intersection of Greenley and Mono Way, westbound on Mono Way. Supposedly, my truck was able to get going that fast by the time I hit the second or third driveway on the north side of the road 8O (Perko's is the third building from the light, and that's where he wrote the ticket as being at). The road is level past Sanguinetti Road, so I definitely didn't get any help from gravity.
Anybody think 60mph is possible in that space?

sure you can what you gotta do is go put a small block in it, go do the 60 mph in 200 yds, then go back home and put the stock engine back in it, im sure you can get it all done in just a few hours

I would think a top speed and charts from Car and Driver out something out there.

Here is something from our own Luv Truck site.

http://www.luvtruck.com/history.htm
Quote:
Truck of the Year or not, the LUV 4x4 was less than swift. Motor Trend measured it traipsing from zero to 60 mph in a bleak 17.4 seconds with the quarter-mile going by in an unbearable 20.7 seconds at just 64.3 mph. By the standards of the 21st century, the LUV was incredibly slow. Except, that is, in showrooms, as Chevy dealers pushed 100,192 of the tiny pickups through them during the year.

Thanks PapaG. That'll actually really help, being from a reputable source like Edmunds. I think I'm even going to go to all the shops in town and ask their professional opinion too.

lol, come to find out, the officer that cited me isn't an officer at all. He's a seargent.
This is gonna be long... at least I'll have something to do!

Because the "Seargent" treated me like a lying piece of crap SOB the night everything went down, I'm going to invite him to my Eagle Scout Court of Honor... lol, prove to him that not all teenagers are idiots.

Congratulation on your Eagle Scout Court of Honor. For those who do not know, less than 2% of scouts become Eagle Scouts. A lot of famous and not so famous people are Eagle Scouts. My son is a Eagle Scout and Arrow of Light holder, but 30 years old now... I was a scout master, we are both O.A. members....

So, I got the letter back from the DMV yesterday...

I have to pay $25 to "file a claim"
BS.
They don't have to pay me $25 to modify my driving record.

You should actually add $25 to the Sum you are seeking?

That sounds like a good idea. Bureaucracies suck. Now, if they deny my claim, I'm going to be incredibly angry (and everyone in NorCal is gonna know about it). So far, this has cost:
$210.00 Towing fees (the towing company was kind enough to drop the storage fees)
$5.00 for the DMV printout.
$7.00 to mail the letter to them.
$37.00 to file a claim (Postage, fee, and $order)

For a total of $259.00 that's going to be like pulling teeth to get back.

lol, so, this settles it. I'm definitely moving out of state as soon as I get the chance. :)
