so here is some government math. at work we just switched from federal pay to contractors. ever see a person get a raise but bring home less?
fed salary $44928 yr
to
contract base $40248 yr
contract base plus benefits pay $47528 yr

so i got a raise of $2600 yr (which put me into a higher tax bracket btw) but i bring home $4680 yr less.

Union contract talks are not going well. We just would like to keep it like it is now for 3 more years. But the company owners want to take pay away from us. Work is slow now. If we strike, many workers will lose homes. Me included maybe.
