Post subject: AHHH THIS PISSED ME OFF
PostPosted: Wed May 19, 2004 4:53 am
This mornin about 1:35 I went up to my work to get a couple pieces of scrap metal from our shop. I unlocked the door and as soon as I turned the lights on one of the ladders fell, thinking nothing of it (as we have a bunch of stray cats that we let stay in there during the rain storms (they have a cat door)) I started to walk to one of the storage rooms. As I got around the front of the shop pickup truck (chevy silverado) I heard a footstep. Spinning around I caught a glance of a guy running out the door. I began to run after him but once I got outside I could not see where he had gone. I turned around and locked the door then slammed it. I then jumped into my lil sprint and grabbed my crowd pleaser 12gauge and flipped on the mini lights on the grips. After about a half an hour of searching around and waking up truck drivers to check for the cowardly thief to no prevail I returned to the shop. Thankfully the guy only got away with a couple tool boxes of cheap tools and some wiring equipment, leaving behind my $200 set of air tools. I am just very glad that I did not have my girlfriend or her son with me, I can defend myself but if something happened to one of them I have no clue what I would do. Unfortunately this does set me back a couple days until I can afford to get another set of snips (as those were in one of the tool boxes). Oh well, I'm still alive and kickin, unfortunately so is the guy that broke into the shop.

Dude - always shoot first and ask questions later. They never run when they hear a blast from a gun knowing the next one has their name on it.

8-)

Good to hear your are alright and so is the LUV

Well the problem with a warning shot is that the lot had about 40 truck in it, and is right next to the highway. You wouldnt think someone could run across a parking lot that fast. I mean damn in the time it took me to grab the mossberg, it was like no one was even awake out there. Oh well, had the state police take some prints off a couple of things the dude had tried to steal, and there were come really good ones in there so hopefully the dude is on file. Stupid person he was..... left greasy finger prints of all 10 of his fingers on a smooth metal tool box.... The cop said you cannot get better circumstances than that..... If he is not on file, there is still going to be a warrant out for his arrest via his prints..... So buddy if you are out there, go burn your prints off..... Hopefully you spill gas all over yourself and burn up....

I had a similar experience with someone breaking into our place through a sliding glass door.(broke the 8ftx5ft glass) Walked in on them as they were piling everything of value up on the patio. Even with the cops showing up in about 30 seconds flat they managed to get away. The only thing that made it off the patio was a jacket of mine the putz was wearing, but he shed it a block or two away so I got that back as well. As in your case, the police lifted some good prints. The moron raided our fridge and was eating cheese, left cheese grease prints all over the place. One day he'll get nailed for DUI or something equally stupid and find himself with B&E and burglary charges tacked on as well. People who are stupid once tend to continue to be stupid and end up getting caught.

One trick I picked up from the experience is to keep your TV screen clean. The best prints they got from our place were there and I had just cleaned it a day or two before. I also figure a line of clear plastic tape (with a slick surface) along the bottom front of all home electronics is another way to create a "print friendly" environment. DVD players, VCRs, and such always seem to have some textured plastic that doesn't take prints well. Basically, look around the items you'd expect someone to steal for places someone would tend to put their hands, and make sure that surface is a clean slick surface.

Living in town does suck for discharging firearms. I miss living in the sticks with my parents where a shotgun blast at 1-2AM didn't result in you going to jail.

I live there now dude! Good point on the TV. Gotta run home and clean them all. Of course, I have a 60 pound dog that don't take lightly to anyone who she don't know.

She went after a dude who was sneaking around the house one day. Come to find out he was the meter reader and couldn't find the meter.

I had one who was outside of my storage shed one day. I shot off about 5 rounds into the dirt (big explosions of dirt) and he ran his ass back home. Never saw him again in my yard.

I do have planters out there for an even better effect when the plugs hit it.

Here's a little story for ya...

We got farm land spread all over hell up here, so instead of driving up and down roads we put a shop up and a vacant yard we bought. A pretty basic shop, with air compresser, welding stuff, some tools, etc. Anyways, this shop is basically in the middle of nowhere, and we figured we might have some theft problems, due to its location. So we did what most people would do and put a dead bolt on the door, plus another safety lock, and the regular door lock. Three locks...should be good..right? Wrong, a few months after setting the shop up, it got broke into. They backed their truck into the door and busted it off. And then they opened up the big roll up door and loaded up some stuff. They stole the welder and accesories, air tools, a gen pack, all of the tool boxes filled with tools, plus some that were hanging up on the peg board. And they took anything else they could grab and get rid of quick. So the cops came out and did nothing..like usual, and we got most of it all back through insurance. So we nicely got out shop stocked back up a month later. And theives broke in again! They didn't take as much this time, and we are pretty sure it was the same people. But they got away with a $1000 bucks of stuff anyways. We never filed for insurance this time, because the deductable was $700. So now we are really pissed off. My dad spent the next 3 days in his truck all night watching the shop. He hid his truck in the trees and waited to see if the bastards would come back. Well sure enough 3 nights later, a truck comes down the road, slowly, and as it approaches the yard, the head lights go out. Well my dad was sleeping when he heard them coming (good security eh... ) So he waited till they got in the yard, and he dialed the cops on his cell. Then, they must have noticed dads truck somehow, and they snapped their lights on and peeled out of the yard. Dad fired up his truck and started to chase them down the road! So after a few miles of 100 miles an hour down the gravel road, dad said this is crazy and quit following them. He called the cops and told them what way they were going. The cops never did find them. But it musta scared the crap outta of them, cuz they have never came back. Sorry bout the long post! Damn theives anyways!!

Well I just got a new toy that wont cause as big a mess as my 12ga. Its a Tauras 357 stainless. Paid a hundred bux for it, but its a good one to have around the house. Granted I'm more for simi-auto and full auto, but its nice to have a lil revolver sittin by my side every now and again.....

Right now I'm down to just an SKS 7.62 semi auto rifle. However, with the bayonet extended it has a nice high intimidation factor.

damn you guys make me miss living in oregon........down here in california we arn't alowed to have semi auto rifles w/ detachable mags. i remember being able to buy specialty 12ga ammo like bolo's and shorties. we can't even get #0+ here. to many police killers.

just more proof that responsible people pay the most for gun laws
