So, i got pulled over yesterday twice. The first time i was on my way to my buddy's house to get the rear bumper installed since it's a safety violation here in utah to drive a vehicle without one. Ironically, i was pulled over for exactly that. I got a warning, and was let go since i showed the officer proof of my intention to get it taken care of. (i had just left the parking lot of the hardware store with the bolts needed to install it)

the second time, was just after playing in the snowtrac that is near the west end of the salt lake valley. My buddy and i were just having a blast messing with the 4 wheel capability of the luv ( he was impressed enough to consider getting one himself) we went over a pointy dirt hill, and as i reached the apex of the hill, i remembered too late about the lack of ground clearance between the exhaust and the ground. i cracked that pipe like a dryer vent duct.

well, we just ended up taking the damaged exhaust and removing it so it wouldnt spark on the highway and get damaged more than it already was. ( i gotta say, i love the way my engine sounds right now with nothing but a straight pipe, but its WAAAAYYY too loud. It sounds like i'm running a 350 under the hood)

so as we get onto the highway, a UHP car pulls me over and tells me if i know that my vehicle is too loud. i say yes and show him the twisted pile of pipe and muffler and he attempts to give me a fix it ticket. i dont know how, but i managed to talk my way out of it, but its a good thing he didnt look up my plates. he would have definitely given me that ticket if he had seen i had already been pulled over not quite 2 hours earlier!

But being pulled over twice in one day aside, 4WD is AWESOME, and i LOVE having it at my disposal!!

i think it just depends on the circumstances.

ALOT of the uhp and local police agencies are very safety minded when it comes to cars and trucks. the recent messages they have been posting is "Zero Fatalaties - A goal we can all live with"

but hey, i understand, they are just doing their job. i'm happy to see that they at least take interest in their work.
besides that, we have some hot trooper chicks here in utah

I guess I am prejudice against cops as I have never had a good experience with one. I was just going on what Fig said about the muffler incident. He showed the cop the muffler and pipes in the back of the truck and explained that it had just happened and the cop was still going to write a ticket. Its not like he had been driving around for months, knowing he was illegal and did nothing to fix the problem.

well, she wanted to give me the ticket just because i had been playing with the truck. its not like it was a maintenance issue. the officer was like " well it wouldnt have happened if you hadn't been fooling around"

to which i retorted, " i wasn't really playing, i just wanted to make sure my 4wd was working properly. after all, since my truck is so light, and in view of the fact that we are supposed to have more snow coming in the next few days, i thought it would be better to make sure now while the roads are clear, than to wait until they are iced over and possibly find out that it's not working and cause an accident"

she smirked and said "good point. well, just make sure to get it fixed as soon as you can"

I'm glad the charm got me off and not a free ride in a trooper's car. That would have sucked.

Got pulled over for the same thing once. Luckily I had the mufflers in the back of the truck and told him I was on the way to the muffler shop, so he let me go.

Of course I didn't tell him that I'd been driving it like that for 2 days, and was going to go another 2 days before I put the mufflers on myself on my day off. :)

Then there was the time I drove the truck open header across town from home to work to put on the 3" exhaust (had 2-1/2" before).

About half way there I got on it on an open road, wide open throttle. It sounded bad-ass.

It must have echoed for a mile because right after I was sitting at a red light and a cop came flying up behind me. I shut off the engine when he got close. He pulled up next to me, gave me a dirty look, and ran the light to find whoever was driving around with open headers. LOL! By the time the light turned green he was way in front of me, but I still cruised it the rest of the way.

I could go on...

I should have gotten about 25 more tickets than I did back in the day.

My son was not quite to the Chevy dealer to get a state inspection. We bought a Camaro that had not been driven in about a year and a half, started all the time. The cop gave him the ticket... Butt head. But I have had more good experiences than bad I guess... If you get a A$$ whole, then that is what you have...

You need Thank who ever you think helped you on those.

Cops have something against older trucks. Especially bored cops. I've had cops follow me for 5 miles, 10 feet off my bumper, trying to find something wrong, or trying to make me nervous enough to screw up. SPD is the boredest of the bored. Driving behind one, hit a bump, and my left headlight went out. Of course, it only took about 30 seconds for the officer to notify me of my truck's single-headlightedness... Bored. We're a small town, night time population of about 5K, and we have about 200 officers with 20 cars... That's just PD. Sherrif's dept and CHP not included. (That's a conservative estimate)

I love the cellphone law... gives me an excuse to slam it to the side of the road (using all the proper signals of course) whenever I want to.

If you're at work, and you're bored, your job isn't necessary. I understand that the cops would be the first to put their ass on the line if I was actually in trouble, but they shouldn't be allowed to do anything I can't. If I drove like a cop, I'd probably be out of a license with the number of tickets...

What, damn, I got the late shift again? Cops are dicks at night. Can't blame 'em though, I'd think I was shafted if I had to drive around aimlessly at 2 a.m. looking for another car that isn't a cop.

There are good cops and bad cops and some who are just bad at their jobs. Here is an example of a bad cop gone stupid

A Wyoming Highway Patrol trooper arrested a Wal-Mart truck driver as part of a scheme to murder him and stage a crash in order to collect a settlement from the company, according to an FBI affidavit unsealed Tuesday. JOSHUA WOLFSON Star-Tribune staff writer |

Cops are a necessary evil. No doubt they're necessary. No question they're evil.

There's 3 main reasons cops are evil:

1) Although I think they really want to catch the bad guys, they don't feel any need to use integrity when they do. They will break the law if they think it will help them. They will lie to you, to the court, to anyone. And, they'll lie to cover each others asses. Which leads to #2:

2) They have an "Us and Them" mentality. They're all brothers-in-arms fighting the evil populace. I personally have experienced cops lie to cover the illegal acts of other cops. In their eyes, if you're not a cop, you're bad. If you are a cop, you're good and can do whatever you want. Which leads to #3:

3) They think they're above the law. How many times have you been going down the road at 70-ish MPH and been passed by a cop? If it's illegal for you to go that speed, why not them? A while back, a magazine editor wrote how he sped up and followed the cop. When the cop pulled him over, he argued that the cop's speed led him to believe it was safe. He still got the ticket.

On the flip-side, when they caught the guy that busted up my car, I was glad they were around.

Yep, a necessary evil.

Not even close to the truth, please show me proof and in return have a trip to my area and you can talk to several so I can prove you wrong.
