We are having some really bad flooding here in Iowa. It just won't stop raining here. In Cedar Rapids the Cedar River is way out of its banks. Flood stage is 12 feet. The river is at 29.9 feet and is suppose to crest around 32 feet. There is a Dairy Queen and another building across the road from the DQ that are 2 blocks from the river and the water is up to the ceiling!!! On the other side of the river the water is up the road 4 blocks and is still going up. I have attached some pictures from a local news channels website. The 2 pickups are in the Quaker Oats parking lot that is along the river. The railroad bridge is no longer standing. It went down this morning. It is a big mess.

Ironic that out here in CA we're having drought.

Maybe we should build a water pipe from Iowa to CA?

You can come and get as much water as you need!!! A friend of mine lives in western MN and they are dry up there too. They only got a few inches of rain lately.

Thanks guys.

Every one keep dry and safe.

Grandmaster of the "Shade Tree" way.. I can't see the yard for all the cars. Come on down and we will sit on the porch and watch the grass grow.

Here are some more pictures of the flooding in Iowa.

http://iowadot.gov/floods/2008gallery.html This link shows some roads in Iowa that have water over them or have damage from the water. The first few pictures of Iowa 150 north of Vinton is the road I take to get to the race track. I won't be for a while.

http://www.kcrg.com/news/local/19935509.html This link shows a little town called Palo that has about 900 people living in it. The whole town was flooded. In the second picture in the upper right side of the picture is a housing development that has mostly newer houses.

http://www.kcrg.com/news/local/19935354.html This link show the north part of Vinton that is next to the river. In the second picture the bridge going over the river is Iowa 150 going north. The building to the right of the bridge at the side of the picture is the fire station. The building in the middle of the picture with the white ring of sandbags around it, is the police station. Just under that is the court house.

On the news tonight they said the water is going down in Cedar Rapids but will be another 11 days before it gets down to the flood stage.

If they can pipe oil from Alaska to CA, they can sure enough pipe water across the country. 8)

http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-34660?r ... 2Fnewsiest Here are some more pictures of Cedar Rapids. The picture of the Paramount is a very old historic theater that has an old pipe organ in it. The building was renovated about 4 years ago.

http://www.kcrg.com/floodwatch/coverage/19891824.html Those are house boats that have broken away from a couple miles upstream from Ellis Park and are up against a railroad bridge that goes to Quaker Oats. One of the boat owners wanted to rescue his boat saying that it was worth $100,000!!!!

What's ironic is it isn't raining down here in MS., but we will have flooding due to all the rain in Iowa... 8O

You may want to start sandbagging pretty soon down there. They were here in some places but the water rose so fast they ran out of time.

I'm not close enough to be affected, unless it's time to build another ark, but the river flooded here earlier this year from the midwest flooding and is still above normal levels.

My other half is originally from around near Cedar Rapids and all of her family/childhood friends and neighbors (that's still around) live there. She has been going frantic trying to track down people and call them all to see if they are OK or if there is anything we can do to help. I already told her we could take some time off and fly out if anyone needs help rebuilding, but so far it looks like they are all going to be OK.

The pictures just look horrible! That is definitely some of the worst flooding I've ever seen. My heart really goes out to those poor people.

It was on the news radio a lot today while I was driving to and from Karls house. I have never seen flooding that before either.

If you find out that any of her friends/relatives do need any help with clean up or anything, let me know. I can give you my phone number and they can give me a call.

The flooding is very bad. I have not been to town to see it personally but I talk to a friend/drag race buddy yesterday that lives probably about 8-10 blocks plus I-380 that has a pretty high bank that sits between his house and the river. He said he had 5' of water in his house and it was up to the gutters on his shop that he does is fabrication in.
