How many people out there are working on projects like mine for example my luv truck where it gets to the point its like a sickness. I mean it gets to a point where you have had to undo and redo things that past owners have screwed up, trying to fabricate or make parts work that you have to buy and try and end up taking back 3-4-8 times because your little truck didnt come with what ever you have swapped into it. Then you go to your local parts store Napa,Kragen,Auto zone etc and you try to buy something simple like a set of spark plugs so you tell the person behind the counter you need part number XXXXXXXXX and then they ask you what the plugs are going into and they look into the parts book behind the counter and try to tell you that your chevy luv only needs 4 spark plugs not 8 and on top of that they tell you the part number doesnt match up and you have to argue with them that your truck has a small block in it and they are saying no it doesnt it wont fit in that little truck(actually happened to me today). On top of all that it gets to the point where you start dreading certain parts of the project and dont even want to do it anymore but yet you cant stop doing the things you hate so much like crawling under your black widow infested project truck to put the driveline back in it after it broke and had sat out in a field for 3 months before and you havent had a chance to make time for it. Then you get the drive line in it and put a new battery in it and when you go to start it the wiring harness starts smoking and you have to re wire the whole thing. So now a week goes by and you get it all wired up so you decide to install some new bucket seats . I pulled the old seat out and the old nasty looking carpet out and thats when you notice its really one of those Fred Flintsone cars with out a floor in it. I dont know what it is about this project I seem to have more days where I would just assume send it to the crusher than make it right but I cant seem to let it go. I dont touch it for a few days and its like Im addicted to it like a drug. I guess its really a labor of love. Is there anyone else that feels like this?

I am sure allot of us feel that way. We all have our reasons for owning our LUV's. I love my LUV and when it is done it will be done my way. Remember, most of our trucks are old enough to be rebuilt due to the lack of the previous owners repairs. It will pay off in the end.

I fortunately havent had to deal to stupid stuff previous owners have done. My Dad was the first and only other owner of my truck. But i definetly know what you mean about being attracted to these trucks. All my 4x4 buddies ask me why i drive it and like it so much, and i cant realy explain it. Then they are realy scratching thier haeds as to my plans for it...

I always liked the looks of them. It drives like any small import truck from the 70's, but it looks better than the others. I also liked the looks of the datsuns.

Same as my old 1960 VW Bus. I liked the way it looked but it sucked to drive.

Old vw bus sounds familiar. Had a 68 that looked stock but had a 180hp Corvair turbo engine. Very fun to drive. Burning rubber at stop was favorite.

Well luckily didnt have to go through anything like that with the LUV as the previous owner left it stock (except the dents) but I sure do with this house I just bought, the guy I bought it from did some pretty amazing (and by amazing, I mean STUPID) stuff. He still comes by and visits the neighbour next door and I get so temped to walk up and just smack him in the head a few thousand times but I dont want to make him any dumber. So I feel ya man!!

LOL that sucks about your house. It seems like some people out there need to step down and call a professional in to get the job done right. It seems like all these people that watch monster garage and This old house think that because they can do anything they see because Jesse James and Bob Villa make it look so easy.

LOL shows you how much I watch tv. I hate the tv, about 4 years ago I decided to get cable and I watched it 3 times in 6 months so I had it disconnected. I went over to my girl friends house for dinner tonight and after watching todays recordings of judge judy with her I thought I was going to have to jump through the front window to escape. I would have much rather spent the time finishing the battery relocate project I was doing before she called me and wanted me to go over to her house. The Luv is not by any means remotely close to being finished but yet so close to being able to move on its own power once again Im getting excited.
