i noticed the brake fluid caps look nasty and rust starting
and globby gunk crap between the rubber lid and the metal plate in the lid
i hope i am able to locate the lids to replace

Some rebuilt master cylinders come with them, but I don't know which companies to buy to get a MC with cups and caps. I've gotten both bare MC and fully loaded before though. I looked at http://www.rockauto.com but they don't list the caps as a seperate part.

I'd just try to clean up the ones you have. Just be sure to get all the crud off, clean them with brake cleaner, and don't bother trying paint or clear coat them as the fluid will just eat paint.
