A sad day in the NHRA. Mark Niver who drove a TAD was killed when he chutes were ripped off the car at the end of the track. The car went into the sandtrap and hit the catch net, buckling the chassis. The second driver killed in a month. RIP Mark.

Sad news. It seemed to be more of a design flaw or welding flaw in the chassis that caused the buckling. He had slowed it down quite a bit when he hit the catch net.
Other racers have hit catch nets at a much higher speed and walked away.

I am more concerned with the manufacturer of the 'chutes. There has been a big stink this year about China knockoff firesuits being knowingly sold by a major dealer. Same bunch also sells 'chutes. Not saying it is them, I'm just saying...

I saw that last night on tv also. Looks like the chassis might have failed?? I agree mytmouz, they do need to look at the chutes and how they mount. That happened last year to Alexis in an TAFC, but when her chutes came off, it also ripped off the brake line. So she had no chutes and no brakes.
