Dont know if you guys are familiar with this site, but its dedicated to a to a 1972 Checy Impala with over 300,600 original miles. Anyhow, his car comes out on the news somewhere in AZ and the way he "maintains" it and thought i'd share it with you guys... heres the link to one of the pages which shows the video.. http://www.stillruns.com/tv.php

edit: its 360,000 not 300,600

I saw a 72? Pinto at the drag track. My buddy said the driver bought it new, drove it home from the dealer, and built it into a 1/4 mile drag car.
I don't know how he knows for sure, but I was told the car has around 30,000 miles on it, all 1/4 of a mile at a time.

I got him beat big time...

I got approx 500k on the LUV, with around 300k on the block.

Sadly I cannot prove it the odo stopped working during Regan's first term. At that time it had 167000+ on it.

My 95 Chevy 3/4 ton truck has 313,xxx on it. My Chevy Corsica had over 300 k on it when we sold it. Chevy sent us a t-shirt on that info. Really, the wife called them about it. Now the guy with a Mercedes with a million miles + that will be a hard one to beat.

No, that would cut in half to 4 runs a day everyday for 37 years.

Yea, I didn't do the math, just repeated what I was told. Must be wrong, but the point was, it has a lot of miles on it since 72 and it has always been a race car, except for the drive from the dealer to home when new.

It's cool. I just blindly was repeating what I was told at the track with out doing the math first, like I should have.

I DROVE my 1987 Honda Accord to the Scrap Yard with 415,000 miles and when I pulled up on the scale the guy looked at me funny. And it still got 32 MPG but the 5 spd was missing 5th gear and third was on its way out. The best part is I DROVE it out of a field where it had been sitting for 10 months after we put a set of jumper cables. Best $200 dollars I have ever spent. I drove the car for over 5 years with just regular maintenance and one axle change , water pump change and changed the fuel injectors (from a scraped prelude). My new one is a 1990 Honda Accord 4 DR with 245,000 miles that I paid $160 for it because the car has been hit behind the headlight on the passenger side and he didn't want to fix it. I am hoping to hit 500,000 miles with this one.

I am a real cheap SOB (love a good deal) but I hate a monthly car payment!

My cousin has an '82 SWB 1/2 ton with a 305 that had almost 700,000 documented miles on it before the engine finally gave up the ghost. When we pulled it apart there was so much sludge in the top end of the engine that it was formed like a cakepan to the shape of the tappet covers and the only non-sludged areas were where the rockers were. No telling how long that top end had been running dry. We had to literally throw away that entire engine. He put a crate 350 in it along with a new tranny and he's still driving it. It racked up the bulk of the miles in the 80's and 90's when he was living outside of Canadian, OK and working in Dallas, TX. He'd drive back and forth at least 3 times per week. He did that for the better part of 20 years.

When I was selling cars I had a guy show up on the lot with an old Toyota Tercel. Car had 540,000 on it and the only work he had done to it was to replace the clutch three times. Engine had never been touched outside of routine maintenance.

There was an early 90's chevy 1/2 ton truck on the news recently out of Wisconsin (I think) just turned 1,000,000 miles. All on the original engine without any major repair. So far the best I've gotten is 172,000 on the '95 Silverado I had. I sold it a few years ago to a friend and it's still going strong. Regrets, Regrets.
