Today I was servicing my dually to get it ready for the trip to Topeka, KS this next week. While I was checking the rearend oil, I noticed that 3 of the 6 bolts holding the hitch on were broken and gone!!! 8O 8O I just put that hitch on last spring. Now I used bigger bolts.

I did this time. I used the bolts that came with the hitch the first time. They were only 1/2" bolts, now I got 5/8" bolts now.

Weld it. Make sure whoever would do that knows about welding on a frame. Bolt it back then weld it. My hitch is welded on my truck. Most of them I have had were welded. Gooseneck hitch is welded too. :D

My new truck (98 Dodge 2500 Cummins another 300k engine) has every thing welded, receiver hitch, Gooseneck hitch too. My son's ex truck. He learned well from dad.

Grandmaster of the "Shade Tree" way.. I can't see the yard for all the cars. Come on down and we will sit on the porch and watch the grass grow.

That is a good idea. I have a buddy that is a good welder. The hitch that was on the truck when I got it was homemade. It was welded to the frame and to the drop down big chrome bumper. The bumper was cracking so I was to have something a little safer!!
