I got the bright idea of starting a street trucks forum for people in central Washington. I made the site, got on myspace and spread the word and only had 2 people join. So I then opened it up to all kinds of trucks, lowered, lifted, whatever and after 3 weeks I'm up to 10 members and two of them are awesome and very active. It has all the right things a website needs and it has some good content, but I can't get people to join. There's already another site for Washington trucks but it's strictly off-road only. Mine's for anything. How can I get more members? Here's the site if you guys wanna check it out and give me some suggestions.

3 weeks? Have some patience! You can have a cattle call open house but you'll get some crud-stirrers & post nazis.
Do you stick cards under the wipers of trucks you see?
Do you have a backglass sticker with the domain name of the site on your truck?
It would be good to have on your truck when you went to events that would attract trucks.
Stick bumper stickers up at bait & ammo stores?
Just give it some time.
& GL with it!

Ya, it will probably take a while. Keep in mind, we only get about a dozen new members here a month. We've just been here a long time. :)

One thing that might help is to register with some search engines. There are lots of bad ones out there so be careful. When we started this site, Network Solutions had a package deal that would register you with 6 or so search engines for like $99. I don't know if they still have it. We only had to do it once to get the ball rolling.

People are funny though. I've met fellow LUV owners around town, told them about the site because they asked me about parts or something, and then they never check out the site.

I guess some people don't look at the Internet the same way we do. Take my dad for example. He thinks the Internet is only good for getting porn. Never uses it for anything else.

Did you read everything on my site? Because just a couple days ago I mentioned that I'm going to be getting a logo on my truck on the back window and take it to all of the local events. And I also said something about making up flyers and sticking them under people's wipers lol

And yeah, people are funny. I've sent out so many invitations to locals on myspace. I figured that they are into trucks and also on the internet, so they would probably check out my site, nope...

Sorry, I did not. It's the Yakima Valley (WA?) Truck Club. I'm in Florida & I drive a car. :? 8)
I was just suggesting promotion ideas used by other forums I've seen.
Maybe it's that thing about brilliant minds thinking alike?
Make a point of welcoming Noobs. Try to minimize the flaming & put downs.
People will come if they like what they get from it.

I see you're up to 25 registered members.
Seems like a steady growth rate & close what Ben said (dozen/month typically join Luvtruck)
Keep it up Kicker!!
