These guys were at a complete stop, trying to unload this thing.

holy crap!!! me and my mom just saw the same thing on I 10 between Deming and Las Cruces! I was going over there to pick up my head and cam from the machine shop, and there was a flat bed on the side of the road with nothing on it. We looked under the bridge and there was one of those big ass forklifts wedged under the bridge, with the forks sticking thru the bridge! I bet they were embarrased.

That's my worst nightmare. I hate hauling high loads. The permits tell you to go that way, but the driver is still responsible for it.

Ben, Did that guy stop in time? Was he just crawling under safely, or did he run into the bridge? It is kinda hard to tell.

I looked closer at it. It looks like they were out there working to get it lower to make it under. So maybe they stoped before they hit.

Nope, he hit it. The cab was crushed and he took a big chunk out of the bridge. I wish the lighting was better, but that silver pipe is about 6 inches up from the bottom of the bridge. If you look close in the first picture, the cab is almost down to the operator seat. But what stopped them is that main piece in the middle of the earth mover. That part said, "nope, I ain't going under there".

Sorry for the shitty pictures. I should have grabbed the real camera instead of trying to use my phone.

I wonder what it feels like to be jerked to a halt within 10 feet?

There were a few guys helping, probably from the chase trucks, but there was panic.

This is about a block from where I saw one of these guys get high-centered about 6 months ago in an intersection. I wonder now if he was trying to go around this low bridge. LOL

OWWWWWW.

I missed that accident by less than an hour. Lucky you pal.

I have to reregister, I guess it has been too long since I last posted and I got kicked out.

Man that cracks me up. As long as no one got hurt thats pretty funny. I was on my way to work one time and this guy in a big gravel hauler was taking this turn way too fast and just dumped the trailer all over the road. Just the trailer, not the truck. Happend right in front of me and i could not help my self but laugh for about the next two hours after that.

It looks like the front pilot car had a hight pole too. Somebody screwed up. I.E. no permits, off the permitted route, load highth measured wrong/ not measured, high pole set wrong( on the pilot car), permit office routing error. Any of these things can really ruin your day.
