There is allot better ways to get more power from your truck. I have a 2002 chevy k2500HD with a 6.0 gas motor. I went with a flowmaster muffler, reflash of the computer and reflash of the trans shifting points. I have about 300 in the deal and I tow 10K lbs every weekend with out any problems and plenty of power. My trailer is a 29 foot enclosed with 2 midget race cars and a 360 sprint car. I would look at the reflash computer sold at most shops then removing equipment.

You can't pull the cats on a 96 and later because of the O2 sensor needs to reed the exit side of the cat. and you would not gain as much as changing the ungodly restrictive muffler.

Just have a "test pipe" made for it and swap your cat back in come smog time. or you can get a dynomax high flow cat from Jegs but it wont give you the extra power on the top end like a test pipe does.

Intake, exhuast , and a programmer, you do those things there and you'll notice a world of difference.

for the intake go with something like a K&N filterpack
put a good 3" or so exhuast system on there with some headers, you could also go with LUVSADRAG's idea of putting a test pipe on there.
add in a programmer from a well known company and you'll be good for at least a 30 or hp gain.
