Hey y'all!! Nothing new on my 77 LUV yet, will probably be another year before I get rolling hot and heavy on it. I did get a new head gasket set for my sons 76, so I should have it running in the next month or so, will be fun to have a LUV on the road again. I stay pretty busy with my Nova still since the racing season is almost over up here. Lately I got to test the nitrous setup after some fuel system changes. It went a 10.86 on the first bottle pass (mufflers, street tires, tank full of 91 octane, drove to the track) using the smallest pills I have and I got yelled at for not having the proper safety equipment, so im laying low till I get a cage in it. But im pretty happy with it. Im looking forward to getting the LUV out there, I have yet to see 1 chevy LUV at my local track all year, not sure whats up with that! Anyway, keep on truckin!

NICE Nova!!! I get mad every time I see one. My Grandfather had a convertible when I was a kid. It was worn out about 1977 and he sold it. My dad wanted to buy it and fix it up but had no time or $ with us kids and all. I was about 11 then and begged him to get it for me, but no way. Now I just cry when I see what they are worth.

Will do! Maybe I can ponder the LUV collection up there. Are you part of the "southern oregon muscle" movement up there? hehe

It's funny to hear someone say Nova's are worth money! ha! - Nova's are still on the bottom of the muscle car food chain let me tell ya! If you look hard you can still find them cheap, a local just found one last month for $900 bucks for a post driver. Heck if I thought mine was worth half of what I have into it, I might sell it! Like that would ever happen! lol

there are a bunch of them around. here whats your budget? My friend just got his out of the paint shop. its a roller (has a stock v8 but has not been fired in a long time) I believe its an SS and all the trim is included. 63 Hard top. Hit me with a PM if interested. I know of at least 15-20 HARD CORE Nova guys around here (including me). My other buddy who runs my old purple 64 just gave away a 64 sedan it didnt have plates or a VIN but it was a rolling chassis that had a notorious history as a street racer in san diego in the 80's. it was a perfect track car... and we had a hard time giving it away.

Thats kinda why my nova will always be a 'street car' - hold their value a little better, even though I myself would prefer a track only rig lol

the hardest part about giving it away was that it was a sedan. everybody wants the hard top. if anything it was good for all the chassis parts. the car ran straight as hell. we were going to take the rear frame rails off and weld them on the insides of another nova's frame rails and then notch em. Instant 13" tire car!!!

the other thing that made it hard to get rid of was due to the extensive street race life it had...without subframe connectors...the body was pretty twisted and none of the doors or hood etc would close very well.

I forgot to ask. are you running a progressive nitrous controller or just hard core straight hit?

Right now just running it off the WOT switch, single stage 120 shot pills. I have a digi-set delay for when I put the larger pills in - might help traction. The 250 shot pills will be fun with my little tires but I see guys running in the low nines with the same tire, as amazing as that is. I think nines aren't out of the question with this setup, but boy the tech guy at the track would be pissed lol.

my friend's '62 ran 9.82 on a 175 shot progressive controlled over 10 seconds (so he never even got 100% hit). he was all over the track centerline to guard rail too. I ran the exact same set up but only got a 9.99 spinning. same shot, same track, same gear, same 8" tire, (but i had a lot less cam)
we were both running 60's era cracked suspension bushings front and rear and him on slapper bars and me on home made bars with a lot of pinion angle in them so yes the potential to get down deep into the 9's on an 8" slick is definitely there if everything is dialed. We were unfortunately on a budget at the time.
