I found a 1979 Cadillac coupe Deville with a 425 when i was on leave in NC, back in august, for a couple hundred bucks and I was wondering if anyone's dealt with one of these before or knows anything about them, my dad says to stay away from it, I've talked to an Oldsmobile tech. and he's said i'd be a good car, I've got a thread on a cadillac forum with one reply that says get it, but not to much other info on it. Going to get it to keep the miles off my LTD mainly.

I like Caddy's. I used to buy 'em and pull the engines and drop 'em in Chevy trucks. (Both were cheap 15 to 20years ago) I preferred the 472's and 500's 'cause they had more torque for the same weight, but whatever I bought, I ran. WARNING: Caddy's are NOT rpm friendly...

I used to have a '72 Coupe Deville and it was a great car - but it really loved to pull into gas stations...lol.

It was our big family car for a few years untill I sold it to an old guy that had one exactly like it. He got it for his wife to drive. He surprised her with it for her birthday so they wouldn't fight over who was going to drive his any more.

I prefer a Caddy to any other big luxury car. IMHO they ride smother, have less problems, and handle the road better. I've owned buicks, oldsmobiles, chryslers, lincolns, etc - but none was as good as my old caddy.
