what do you all think about the Jeep Comanches?(you know, jeep's only pickup) mine has a 4.0 I6 and a 5 speed... it hauls ass! $475, woohoo!

my parents got one of those around 86 seemed to be a pretty good truck from what I remember....

the 4.0 is a hell of a good, smooth, powerful motor. straight sixes rock

however the trannies that AMC/jeep used in the xj cherokee/comanche/wrangler line were either a peugot junk box or a light duty toyota 5 speed, so it's not really the most robust thing for a big engine like that. you can always get a T150 bellhousing from a CJ7 or something though and bolt a ford T18 or another heavy duty tranny in

oh, don't worry about the tranny, it was dead, i salvaged a 5-spd from a 98 wrangler

I love 'em. Someone's got one for sale down the street and I chew thru my lip everytime I drive by cause I can't afford it with so much tied up in my luv.

i kinda like the comanche, but my all time favorite is the jeep gladiator, the original fullsize truck jeep built:



i'd love to have a stepside gladiator like the one from the movie "tremors," with either a buick 350 or an AMC 401, a 4 speed stick and 4wd

wasnt there a pickup called a scrambler or something like that?

yes they are i think there alright i would drive one but still have the luv. I might be buying another luv with a toyota solid axle under it a toyota rear axle. for 500 running perfect.

CJ6 and CJ8 scrambler are the pickup versions of the CJ5 and CJ7, respectively

there's also the CJ10, not to be confused with the J10 fullsize truck, which is basically a bigger heavy duty CJ with a pickup bed that was used for hauling aircraft around at airports
