Well, I started my truck up and was getting ready to go pick up some parts for it, when all of a sudden.... No brakes..... Well, I thought maybe I had forgotten to tighten the lines when I bled them last, but no they were all tight. I bled them again and to my suprise, NO air..... Well what the heck happened?????? Brakes one day, no brakes the next.... Any ideas?????

Can you be a little more specific with whats happening? Is the pedal going all the way to the floor? Do you have disk or drum brakes up front? Is it possible that you let air get in to the master cylinder when you bled them the first time?

Front disk, rear drum. Pedal was going all the way to the floor and there was no braking at all. I bled the lines then tried it again, but the same thing happened.... So... I changed the vacuum booster, and it helped a little bit, but it still isnt how it use to be. I can stop no though, so thats all that counts.....

I know this might sound dumb but your master cylinder might be shot.... so I would look into getting a rebuild kit for it. I had the same problem a few weeks after I did my front disc conversion on my 75, So I bought a rebuild kit. Just my two pennies.

I agree. If bleeding the master cylinder and bleeding the entire system doesn't fix it, it's time to rebuild or replace the master cylinder.

Yeah, I have an extra in my garage, I just have to dig for it..... I was tweeking with it, and then drove it around. It stopped just fine, but the pedal was really soft....... So I dont know if Im just trippin over nothing, but thats weird to me. The pedal goes to the floor, but it stops just fine....????? :?

Yeah it's your master cylinder then....I had an old Ford Stepside that had a master cylinder go bad and thats exactly what would happen, I would be driving down the road an when I went to stop the brakes felt REALLY mushy and then the pedal would go to the floor, and if I wsnt careful it would lock the rear wheels up. 8O So after rebuilding it four times in a span of like five years, I broke down and finally just bought a brand new one. Just my two pennies.

now that im finally putting my luv back together, i put my master cylinder back in and noticed that the pedal when straight to the floor, it wouldnt pump nething, i pulled it apart to find that the inside had totaly seized, after cleaning it all it works better but i still think it needs a rebuild :?

Yup thats what it was.... I swapped rears again and then did the brakes. After changing the master, it works like it use to..... Now I am running a 10bolt out of a Pontiac Ventura II... Its still a lil bit wide, but its 11" narrower than what I did have in it.... I just gotta fix the driveline to fit....
