i hate to tell you but that engine is notorious for cracking it's heads,i just had my wife's car go out around 70,00 miles and it cost me 800 bucks for the head and gasket set. if it's not cracked take it to a machinest and get the works done to it

as for advice...do the job on a clean concrete slab so if u drop some thing you can find it later.....take some pics of the dissasembly too...so you can find youself if u get lost.

oh yeah...lots and lots of patience. I wouldn't expect to get done in one or two days.

lots of luck.... if you need any thing specific you can ask me since i did this two months ago on my wife's 95.

too bad u spent so much on the head! Did you not look on ebay? you can find them things for like 300 bucks rebuilt and sometimes new for less. Job doesnt look too hard...move the intake exhaust manifolds off to the sides of the motor and unbolt it off? Or do you gotta take the manifolds all the way out ? Is there that many peices that i should take pictures!?!? Also, how can you tell if the head is cracked? Cant it crack so small that you cant see the crack? The car was abandoned and then started to drive home, do you think the head is cracked or warped or just a blown gasket? It did drive...
