I know that the FE block Fords all ran on the 352 block, but I don't know how to tell which motor it is that I have for my boat. I had one guy tell me it was a 360, one told me it was a 390, and another told me it was a 428 or 27 or something (its too early to remember what is waht). I was told that the 42* has a hole drilled on the rear end of the crank, and the 390 has a slot and the 360 has nothing. I was wondering if this were true, because mine has a hole drilled in it and I am really hoping its the bigger one.

That is about the best forum I have found for the FE series engines. The only way I know for sure to tell what size an FE is is to measure the stroke & bore. I had 2 FE's that did not have any ID numbers on the outside of the blocks, so its sometimes hard to tell what they are. And like you prolly already know, almost all FE's have the "352" cast on the block no matter what size it is.

Thanks for the site. Yeah I know the FE all were based on the 352 block, which is a pain, and mine also has no numbers other than 352 on the front. I hope I can figure it out, cuz I need to know what numbers to put on the boat......
