My Buick motor sprung a leak on the oil pan. In most cases, the Buick motor needs some modifying to fit the motor in place and one of the mods is to cold work the oil pan to clear the crossmember. Well here i am, 8 years later and it leaks. Apparently it was riding all of this time and i need to do a soild repair. I was thinking of cutting the entire section out and welding a new piece in that will clear the crossmember. I'm just wondering if the pan can be welded. I dont know if the material thickness is strong enough to be modified. Has anyone done this to a pan before? And was it a successful mod?
