Anyone have anything to say about the new ones? Im talking about 00-present. Im halfway thinking of getting of getting a new one, probly just a base modle which means 2wd (mostly so i wouldnt wheel it and beat it all to hell  ) and a 5speed. So does anybody have any exp. whith the new S-10 Blazers?
Also tossing around the idea of a Colorado. But i think the balzer is more practical (only $750 more than a crew cab Colorado and the blazer will have a 4.3L not a 2.8L)

the 4.3 is a good engine. haven't heard too much about the newer s10 blazers so i can't really judge. i'd wait a year or two to buy a colorado...that way you can see if it has any major problems first

anybody seen how a trailblazer's front diff is set up? it's part of the oil pan! talk about strange...i wouldn't wanna work on it

yeah well i was looking at colorados for the little bit of a truck bed. But then i saw that the S-10 Blazer has the 4.3L V-6 and 5speed standard and is a proven and fairly good platform and only $750more. If i whent for the colorado it would only have a 2.8L I-4. To get the 3.5 I-5 the colorado would be $350 more than the Blazer. And i whant to keep as close to $20K as i can...
and if you havent heard much about em, that might be a good thing :)

Ive never heard anything bad of the newer Blazers. Ive been in the automotive industry for almost 15 years now and havent seen one that was a pile of shit yet. Seen a few that were beat to piss, but still ran and drove good. I wouldnt hessitate to buy one if I were in the market for one myself.

I have a 2002 2wd S10 pickup which is basically the same as the blazer. It is a great truck, I have not had any problems with it, the 4.3 liter halls ass compared to a 4 cylinder and has pleanty or torque. I would stay away from the colorado, Inline engines suck compared to v type and lack in torque. Also newly developed engines ae prone to problems. If you are considering a pickup I would also suggest that you look at the S10 Crew cab which is still being made and is baically a blazer with a pick up bed.

you have it wrong, an inline six is superior in every way to a v6, except in length. v6 engines have to use just about every trick in the book to be balanced, whereas an inline 6 is one of only 3 naturally balanced engines: rotary, i6, and 60* v12

yeah kyle has it right. Inline motors make better torque in lower rpm and have a flatter curve than the V-motors of comprable size. That coupled whith the fact that the cylinders arent working against eachother in an inline motor leads to longer bearing life and theres more mains also leanding to durability.
As far as the 4.3L goes i know they haul. My dad just got a 98 S-10 and the thing is a joy to drive! But i dont like the look of the stubby bed on the curent S-10, I think the blazers look better.

I got a chance to check out those Colorado's today. I never test drove them just looked. They seem smaller inside then a S10. Are they, or maybe they just seem like it?? They sure are different, maybe they will grow on me, but i thought the same about the Avalanche...

well the thing i like about the colorados is the 4cyl. standard motor. Better millage ect. that and i kinda like the more aggresive front ends. But i like the tow ratings and power of the blazers much better.
