Are Buick 90 degree V6 motor mounts the same as Chevy V8 mounts?

Or better put, would a motor mount kit to put a Buick 231 in a Datsun work to put a 350 into a Datsun?

Ok, I wasn't sure, because they do use the same belhousings. A 231 will bolt up to a TH-350 or any other "V8 tranny".

I may be wrong but I thought although still a th350 the mounting hole patterns are different, between olds, pontiac and chevy.

I'm not sure. My dad had a toyota 2WD with a 231 in it, then later he pulled the V6 out and dropped a 350 in it. He doesn't remember what mods he had to do to the motor mounts, if any. He says the only thing he can remember is moving the radiator forward with a pusher fan on the outside and dealing with the exhaust. It was about 20 years ago when he did it.

I was just curious because I have a 350 that is sitting in the shop with nowhere to go, and a Datsun 510 that is begging for 325hp of V8 muscle. I just have to decide if I want a drag car or an autocross car. Because more than likely, the good handeling will go down the drain with a 500-something pound motor in place of the 285 lb motor that is in there now.

At least you know you won't have to do any work to lower it a couple inches in the front. :)

yeah no kidding. Right now with a full tank of gas, me in it and a few other things in the trunk, the car weighs almost 2200 even. And thats with the roll cage in it also. So, the car would be nutty fast with the motor in it. I have a R-180 LSD for it that is supposed to be almost indistructable. I think its a 240zx or a 280sx rear end.

Buick/Oldsmobile/Pontiac (BOP) all share the same bellhousing pattern & are different from the Chevy's pattern. There are adapters made to make them compatible- or at least there used to be- but I think its better in the long run to just get the correct tranny for whatever motor you're using.

I have the right tranny, I am just wondering if the mounts are different.

I have a TH-400 which is a chevy tranny, I just want to know if motor mounts for a Buick 231 would work for a Chevy 350. It looks like I am getting no as an answer.

Oh well, I will make something work.

Thanks for the input
