The Alpine was a 4 cylinder British engine of some sort, but the Tiger had either the 260 or 289 Ford V-8 under the hood. The Tiger was sort of the Cobra's baby brother in the 60s. Maxwell Smart drove one in Get Smart during the first season or two.

Yeah, that's a mid 60's Sunbeam Alpine. I thought they were great little cars, but they had the British stigma because of MG's, English Ford's ect. The Tiger did come with a Ford V8, but they weren't very fast. I would guess they had somewhat of a detuned 289, or maybe a stock 260, but the girls loved them, and the car did ok for a while. That picture of the chick with the head scarf is classic. They loved to put the top down, but hated to mess up their "bee hive" hair DO'S. They would whip that hair up, and saturate it with hair spray, to hold it in place. Did you know hair spray was flammable back then? Poof sizzle sizzle. Burning hair, really does smell bad, and you thought they spent a long time in front of a mirror now. Forgot to mention my sister's little red Fiat roadster convertible. It added to it's European mystique, to match the British cars, and motorcycles, and of course, the mystery was, how these beautifully engineered cars, could spend so much time in the shop.

You can tell this car has been restored. Not a scratch on the body, and check out those wheels and tires.

Yep My mom had a dark green Sunbeam Alpine in the early 70's or late 60's I remember riding in it many times...
The Alpine had the 4 cylinder and taller tail fins.
The Tiger V8 models are hot these days, and worth semi big bucks, I saw one at the SEMA show last year or in 2014, restored and modded, with a EFI 302 HO and a T-5 super cool little cars...
my sister had a MG back then also, my dad liked cool convertibles. My mom even had a 58 Bel Air convertible red and white for a while...don't remember when, I was super young.....wow wish I had that one...never forgot that car.
Early British cars were notorious for lousy electrical systems...same with MG's, Triumphs, Jags and Range Rovers...that's one of the reasons their value drops like a rock....I am sure the newer ones are much better though.
ahh the memories...

Yeah, love the memories. I love all the old cars too. That red 58 Chevy convertible was a mind blower, and it had to be because of the 57. The 57 Chevy like fins were never to be seen again on American cars. About ten years later, here comes the Sunbeam Alpine with the fins :-) Those were the days. And this is no joke, all the ladies had the scarf on, when the top was down. The Sunbeam Alpine picture was classic, because you rarely saw one without the other.

She was all done up with the scarf and glasses the second time i saw it out as well. Gotta go all out to fully appreciate the era in that car.

Nothing wrong with that, I can't be the only one to wear a mullet when I drive a Camero.
