does anyone know if the 3884520 heads are worth a #&%$. I found a plenty of casting listings on the web but i wanted to know if anyone had run them and what they flow like. The valves are 1.94, 1.50s and somone has done a little port work on them and it says they are 60cc. So what you guys know?

3884520....60-67...283..........Some marked "Made in Canada", 60cc chamber, also used by Studebaker

There used to be a website around that said good or bad about certain cylinder heads etc. I cant remember the URL. I prefer to stick to the tried and true castings like the 461x, 462, 292, 186, 993, etc.

I'd do a google search on those and maybe find a site that rates them.

See the thing is, my dad has his 55 car and he is putting it back together kind of a nostalgic way. He has a 283 that is being bored 80 over with a steel crank and a tri power setup. The car has a 4 speed with an original posi rearend. And the only thing that we dont have so far is a set of heads, now if im not mistaken these would work pretty good with that setup. Ive got a set of 186s and 492s but i dont want to really want to use them on it.

If you are looking to keep it all original or semi-original then I would use them. If they are power pack heads then they are decent medium performance heads. They were always considered hi po factory heads due to their small combustion chamber that yield higher compression but thats it. The rest of the head is like any other early fuelie head. they should flow as good as the 186's but have higher compression. What do they say about them at ESI?

If your goal is to keep the car original then i would use them. if your goal is medium performance then i would use them. if your goal is to have a race motor then i would go aftermarket.
