Hi all,

I am looking to change to a complete electronic ignition for my 1972 pictured below. It has the 1.9 original motor and distributer etc.

My mechanic referred me to Petronix but their tech could not reference me to one that will work.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of a complete kit?

If your truck is all original then it has the 1.8 early G180 engine. There is a Pertronix kit that does fit your truck, we had at least one member do it to a 72 that I can remember. You will need to search the forum, the info is here someplace.

EDIT

Eln1972 did his old 72. Search his posts and you might find the part number. You can try to PM him but he sold the truck and might not be around.

I found this, verify the number with Pertronix before ordering.

Thanks. For some reason I had it in my mind that the whole distributor housing would change. My mech suggested changing to a hotter coil as well.

Ill give em a ring tomorrow.

So.

I called Pertronix. It turns out that the distributor on this one is a double point distro. Pertronix does not make a kit for it. They said they will build one custom for 300 bucks but that means I have to send it to them.

Anyone have any thoughts or can point me in the direction of finding a single point distro that would work to I can just buy the proper kit for it?

Any other thoughts or ideas?

In the link above go to eln1972luv and pm him, see if he has a email on his profile and ask him how he did it.
