So I decided to start a new restoration project after having self taught myself how to do body work, painting, and general mechanics on my first ever vehicle a 79' Luv.

I bought this car (283 V8 4 door hard top) for 1200 body in near perfect condition, interior kind of ratty, and at the time of purchase running great.

I brought it home and now I am having issues getting it to start. It seems like the battery is dead because It will crank and start once after recharging, but it looses enough juice within minutes after starting to make it impossible to start a second time. I took my battery to autozone and had them charge it, and load test it. I cleaned all wire contacts and still have had no luck. bad starter motor? any help would be great!

Unless it has been rewired, those came with an external voltage regulator. Those puppies will drain a fully charged battery quick when they go tits up...

yeah, I had been told that by another person. I took a peek at the interior components of the voltage regulator today, it looked brand spanking new. would a faulty VR show visual signs of wear and tear or is it only detectable with a multimeter?
