alright so i am having a hell of atime deciding what i wanna do here
a while back i was offered a pair of datsun 510s for $250 which i want badly, one running/driving one missing powertrain
same guy also more recently offered me a 78 trans am with t tops that dont leak, running 6.6 with auto trans 8O for $1000 to be worked off in his garage...
i only really have room for 1 more car right now so either condense 2 510s into one good one or pick up this big block trans am...
any votes?

Is your LUV running now? Just asking as I think anything more then I project in the limited space you have would not be so good.

Luvr8 makes a wise argument, but I'll play the devil on the other shoulder...

auto trans :smt015

vs a fun little street toy w/ spare bodyparts. Woohoo! Think of the spare car as 'temporary room to discriminate against mediocre parts'.

Look at that! Just look at it!

The firebird would probably be worth more if you ever wanted to sell it.

luv is running just fine  been daily driving it for quite a while now with no serious problems since i finally added a few relays to solve the electrical issues i has having with fuel pumps and such.

i need to take a look and see if it has the pontiac 400 or the olds 403, has a shaker hood, all 3 cars are south of eugene OR so i havent had a chance to take a look at them personally yet. i am heading down there thanksgiving weekend for sure and im also trying to get down there another weekend before then but depends on his schedule.

and to do re mi ka do the one that runs has an l20 and 4 speed, sidedraft webers and header it was rolled but it has a cage so it would be a drivetrain and cage donor to the other one, the good bodied one has a bre style paintjob and #99, had a cage but it was removed it will accept the other one just fine, lowered on koni suspension w/strut bars, has flares and 14" cragar ss wheels with 225/50s.. looks just like the old bre team cars, pretty sweet lil unit but would need a good cleaning and buffing its been sitting a couple years.
the 510 would be more suited to my style and favorite types of driving, but its very hard to say to to a v8 twice

Myself,I'd go with the Datsuns, especially for the price. 8)
Then again,I'm a little biased as I run 4 cyl. circle track race cars and dabble a bit in Autocross.

between the options given... 510.
Having owned a 510, and regret selling it, I gotta go with the 510. those things are among my favorites... Then again I have a soft spot for 2 door mini coups. Just not mini coops. Those things are hideous.

im leaning more to the 510s as well, costs less, i get 2 of them and they are just awesome little cars
i have realized i have a thing for 70's era japanese cars/trucks they just have that style to them nobody else had at the time

that would be stupidly fun and equally terrifying to drive  i was thinking a 300zx vg30 would get it going pretty well without too much of a headache

big reason for wanting them to begin with it to do some autocross at PIR since its only 15ish minutes from my house. i watched a guy slide sideways into a mini van trying to drift a blind corner the other day and a couple months ago my buddy tried the same thing turning onto mill plain and took out one of those big steel business mailboxes and the front end of his 720 when he caught traction so i figure i should keep my schenanigans off public roadways before i end up the next assclown in the courthouse

couldnt agree more bobcat.. especially about hating mini coopers those things are about as sad an excuse for a vehicle as a vespa

510. No question about it. I. Always wares one. What year of 510 are they. Cuz if I remember correctly ( probably not) the 70 to 72 have independent rear end. Alwasys wanted one if those.

not sure on the exact year of the pair but they are both the 68-72 models and have IRS. i know the white (good body) one has koni suspension and strut bars and the gold (rolled) one has aftermarket but havent checked the brand. they were both slalom and road course cars back in their prime. at least one will get there again
for $500 i will have a trackable 510 for scca solo days at pir and for $1000 i will have a 510 that will look good doing it
going to drive the rolled one home and tow the other one. need to arrange storage for the one while i prep the white one.
the white one looks just like this one, but its got the #99 on it and doesnt have the sponsor stickers. it has the same wheels paint job and air dam on it. it will probably need a fresh coat of paint by now but i plan to repaint it the same way and keep the 99 so if i ever take it back to its home town it will be recognized by someone
