Hey Guys,

I'm helping my dad on his project. He's got a Hot Rod with a 53 Ford Flathead V8. The stock starter was rebuilt, but has an after market bendix on it. The company that sells it is called Dennis Carpentar (not sure if they are manufactuer).
The new style Bendix has a casing around it. It seems to big of diameter for the housing to the fly wheel.
I will try to get some pictures and show you.

I have a post on hotrodders.com about this, but if anyone else has suggestions on where to go for advice, that
would be appreciated.

Dennis Carpenter has been around for ever. A call to them could get a answer or 2. You can ask on the H.A.M.B
http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=5 You will have to create a account. They were a very narrow minded group, do not try to talk Luv Trucks, but Traditional HotRod stuff is a great place to go. It is a little better, but they will let some 55-early 60's stuff, but I would read first on those things.....

Go for your flat head stuff information.... You may want to do a intro on your dads car.

Good Luck.

Grandmaster of the "Shade Tree" way.. I can't see the yard for all the cars. Come on down and we will sit on the porch and watch the grass grow.

Thanks for the info PapaG. We found out they still make a new Bendix that's like the stock one, so we went with that.
The newer styele looks like it lasts longer, but we wanted to get the Hot Rod on the road. =)
