I was browsing the cars for sale adds lastnight when i saw a dream of mine. 1987 Isuzu Trooper, $300. Im going to look at it tomarow and if all goes well buy it too 8)

That sounds like a great deal if it can even roll home, much less if it can drag itself under its own power. I paid $800 for my 86 with it running on 3 cyls, a massive vaccum leak, a steambath leaking heater core, and bad front seals on the crank and cam which have almost killed the timing belt. I thought I was getting a good deal.

If you are looking for swap parts for the LUV, early 87 is better. They switched mid 87 to the 10 bolt front axle. That makes all the power steering stuff not nearly as easy to fit. On the other hand, if you are looking to join the "LUV SUV" club and run the Trooper, you would be better off with the later 87 with the 10 bolt.

The manufacture date is on the door post on the driver's side, I believe Nov 86 is the cut over date. Before is like an 86, after is like an 88.
