so i was at the junk yard today picking up a few more odds and ends and seen a 1995 buick roadmaster... and of course against my better judgement i just happend to pop open the glove box amd noticed that it had a code listing for a g80.... an lsd in a station wagon...

so i got to looking some more and found this information

Buick road master sedan:

2GC / 2.56 (GM8)/ 11" / 1566mm

2GQ / same as 2GC w/LS

2NS / 2.93 (GW9)/ 11" / 1566mm w/LS

LS = Limited Slip

2YN 2.56 (GM8) not available with G80 / ls

2YF /2.93 (GW9) - housing code - open diff

2YG / 2.93 (GW9) with G80 /ls

would a 2.56 or a 2.93 be to low of a ratio for the stock 80hp? i mean cruising speed on the freeway would be right around 1800-2200rpm

Are you saying the Buick pumpkin will drop straight in, or will you use the whole rear.

It does have a license plate so technically it is a street truck, that sets off car alarms and makes kids cry. lol

These are pretty good axles . Make sure you get the Auburn style clutch type posi . G80 is GM s code for limited slip for all models across the model line that will include the Eaton Gov-loc from the trucks which is less than desirable , but plenty strong for a stock Luv motor . These are 30 spline with 8.5 inch ring gears with C-clip retention . I just pulled the posi unit out of a wrecked caprice with 56,000 miles and put it in my 91 C1500

sorry to hijack this... but... other than the truck version which cars had posi? i have heads the gov-loc has issues under power and doesnt lock except for at certain speeds and conditions... would really like a lsd to go with the 4.3 with all the rain here any traction i can get would be a help
