Hello,I have an isuzu Pup 2.2 Diesel w/4spd manualn 155K or so miles The only time im hearing a slight whine ,somewhere in my driveline, is around 50 mph and only during the 1st second or 2 of gentle acceleration. The noise of the diesel and wind may be hiding further whining,i dunno. To make it a little clearer as to when i hear the whine: cruising at 50 mph,I barely depress the fuel pedal and I hear the whine, when I letup it goes away. If you were able to see my foot on the pedal, you may only see it move and inch? Im guessing of course, but the amount I depress the pedal is just enough to apply increased pressure to the suspect component. (gears ,pinion or ujoints?)
Yesterday I jacked my pup up off the ground and checked for the whine I am barely hearing when just during light acceleration at hwy speeds. I lubed all zerts along the driveline(4x4). I could detect no u joint play, even at the pinion area . With all 4 off the ground I let her idle in each gear which rotated the drive shaft enough to hear the noise .Even at that low speed, In 3rd, there was some noise but when I put into 4th there was sigmificantly more rattling . It seemed to be from the rear diff.
I didnt get under the pup to listen and pinpoint the noise, because i was a little creeped out letting her run like that and pitting myself under it.
I will take a feel for the lube level this evening I hope. Hopefully its just low and topping off will eliminate the noise. I see no evidence of leaks though.
any helpfull comments,suggestions?
