hey guys just joined, and i need some help with a small problem in my pup swap. took a 81 luv diesel, pulled the engine, rebuilt it, put it in a 2000 2wd s10. now i need to make the speedo work. the trans is the upgraded 5 speed. the problem is that the s10 needs a electronic signal and the trans has a mechanical pickup. what have you guys done in your swaps, thanks

I put an aftermarket cable driven speedometer in my v8 blazer conversion, there are supposedly some cable to electronic signal conversion boxes, but I never tried one...

Have ran into the same problem with early and late 700R4 transmissions. Go to a transmission shop and get an earlier transmission speedo drive, usually all that is needed is to change a plastic gear on the transmission output shaft and use the earlier mechanical speedo adapter. Any relieable transmission shop should be able to provide everything you need for less than $35.00. You may have to experiment with different driven gears to get the speedo accurate, or go to a speedo shop and they can build you a miniature gear box that attaches to the transmission and then to the speedo cable. Good luck, dusty
