I have a 1995 Pontiac Bonneville that the heater core is leaking. Has anyone ever changed one? I was looking at it last night and it looks like a pain in the a$$!! Does the whole dash have to come out? Thanks.

if i remember correctly, you should be able to access the box its in behind the glove box. a bit of a pain, but an extra pair of hands will help

Thanks. Got a chance to tear more apart and finally got to it. Got one heater hose off but haven't gotten the bottom one off. Very tight to get to that clamp. I looked up the labor in my book and it said 4 hours and add 1 hour for a Pontiac with a console, so that made me think that you had to remove the dash.

PITA Figuarus is right. I do not remember which car it was, but Pontiac said you had to take the fender off at the door to get to the hose. We loved to get those, because we never removed the back side of the finder. I think it paid like 8 hrs. It was a 3itch to get to. I think it was a Firebird, 1st gen.

You may have a few nuts to remove under the hood. A lot of the newer cars and trucks I have done, are just held(mounted) on the inside... You might consider cutting the hose so you can get to the clamp a little easier.
Still the duct work, kick panel, glove box, vacuum lines need to be removed. Carpet will have to be pulled back.

Grandmaster of the "Shade Tree" way.. I can't see the yard for all the cars. Come on down and we will sit on the porch and watch the grass grow.

We used to have an 88 Accord. My wife asked at a shop about replacing the core. He told her go buy a new car. I guess it is a major PITA on that car.
