Sorry if we were talking about different engines. old age does that to you. 8) Looks like a lot of info on the Isuzu engine. Looks like both were in MD trucks and industrial too.

No not all exhaust manifold for the 4bt cummins run over the motor, they made both. And they are reversiable aswell. You can have turbo's that run over or under. you can also take a 12V manifold can cut part of it off and weld it up. So you can do that as well. But Weight is your only problem when it comes to the 4bt cummins, With a body lift im sure it will fit right in. but the front end could never take the weight.

Yep..... It is heaver than a BBC... 800 lbs or so.. I have never seen any of the 4 bt engines that had a exhaust that was under the engine.. Cool to know... All of them I have seen and used were out of Frito Trucks. I wonder what the under the engine pipes were? Equipment? I know they were in road grators and other equipment.

Haha Yup, Mine came with my manifold, down but i can flip it ether or. But you can buy ones that have the turbo mount in the middle of the manifold, haha I called cummins on that one. but ive seen them on ebay to, there out there but most were the reversiable manifold, but they were put in everything from boats, to gensets, bread vans, bobcats, backhoes, road grators, and im sure many more. Mine was in a genset so it was probly down to make alittle more room, haha 4btswaps.com has alot of info! A LOT! :D

this is not a bad idea. Something our facility has been pondering for years to afforadable offer the masses.

In our early days we did alot of experimenting with propane injection for use with nitrous oxide. we learned alot about the charcteristics of propane and found some neat things. Octane is rather high with propane, or CNG. this property is very useful to some guys like us. Well down here in the desert we use ALOT of CNG and Propane motors for irrigation wells, wasnt long before we got ahold of a propane carb and the tank system. on to an engine we built. and the results? Pretty neat, we built a Ford 300 Inline 6 for use with propane and twin turbo.

the motor was quite powerful, though we never dynoed it... it pushed an early falcon to a solid 11 sec 1/4.

the best part, high octane = high boost = big power WITH A 1100 Dollar tax credit for being a CNG engine.

try that on for size.

good chance that i will be picking up a Nissan KA24E (single cam 1989 240sx 2.4L, w/SEFI) and a 5 speed. guy wants to give me the entire car w/title free to new project home 8)
engine/trans are already out so why not. 150lbft and 140hp stock, and stock with forged crank and rods.... i would recommend it since the 240sx owners swap to the sr20det all the time. plenty of KA24's around.

here's a good question....

What exactly is involved in converting an engine to use CNG?

im wondering if i would have to do anything to the cylinder head itself to be able to use this fuel?

regulator, lines, a CNG compatible "carb and a converter
shouldnt require head work unless you need to change compression

yea if theres a combo of parts that could get compression WAY UP it would get more out of the high octane CNG.

NG is rather high octane like pushing near 130 :P  if you went "dedicated" CNG you could set it up for like 11 or 13 to 1 8)

I haven't read all the post so I don't know if anyone has suggested or attempted a ~ 3.5l Inline 5 cylinder with a 5spd manny, out of the Colorado's~ if Cali every changes there smog laws back to the 30yr old or older vehicles are smog exempt. Im thinking it would be plenty of power...,

here is my proposal. A 3.0 v6 engine outta a 94 t100 toyota. Front end ass well. Do a complete swap. Bolts right in except the frame will have to be trimmed 1.5 inches for the front end to fit. And a body lift to close the hood. A guy here has done it. 22 mpg with 202hp and 313 lbs of torque. Jus a suggestion

I Wouldn't put a Toyota 3.0 in, only because they go through headgaskets. The 3.0 has decent power though.
