Sorry about the lack of information. I was kind of tired, at 4:30. Anyways, here it goes.

1979 Chevy Luv
Rust..wouldnt say light rust, but rust. Nothing but cosmetics damaged by it, though.
Needs new front tires soon
Not quite sure on the mileage as of right now..i might go check it out today.
Most everything is stock, unless something minor blew out and was replaced.
and..yeah..thats about all i know. I'll add more as i find it out.. Thanks

Hard to say with out seeing it.
If it runs real good and stops nice too, yea, $600 is cheap transportation.

Rondog, your display picture.. its that color, looks like that, only its got some rust. It needs 2 front tires, and im pretty sure i could get him to sell for 450 or so. I'm thinkin it would be a fun truck, even if its not looking the best. thanks

$450 is pretty good.
Just remember, these are not '67 Z28's. They will never be worth $20 grand. If you buy it and put $ in it to fix it up, you just need to drive it for a long time to get your $ and enjoyment out of it. It's hard to get even $2000 when selling a LUV, but easy to put $2000 into it to keep it alive.
My point is, You will probably never get your money invested back by selling it. So if you buy it, be willing to just drive it for a few years.

Here's a fictional example.
Purchase price $500
Repairs $800
Total invested $1300
Resale value $800 Your down $500
Drive it for 3 or 4 years, where it out a bit,
resale value $500
Your down $800 now, but for 3 or 4 years, $800 is cheap transportation. insurance and tags are cheaper than a newer vehicle, and no payments!

Haaaa..
Problem.
so my sister has a 94 mustang.. nothing special, just an everyday driver i guess..couple little rust spots... but the clutch went out on it. and its got a couple bad shocks, so it squeaks like crazy.. She offered to sell it to me for 300 bucks.. without it fixed.. but i want this truck, which only needs tires, for about 500.. The clutch plus the shocks could cost over a thousand dollars to get it fixed for the Mustang.. so thats like 1300 dollars.. when i could pay 600 and have the truck with decent tires. Im thinking truck, but.. any advice would be nice :) Thanks

I've had a few cars over the years, and I like the LUV the best. For you needing a first car, this would be good because you can work on it quite easily. The parts are available enough, especially for a 76-80 LUV. And nobody around you will have one. Of course I think us on this website are a little biased :eugeek

its pretty sad, i dont have enough money for the Luv yet, but in 2 paychecks i will! haha.. ive had the same job for a year and a half, and nothing to show for it yet..ah well :P

When you get the LUV the best thing you can do is get a factory manual for it, they are cheap, usually under 20 bucks. I have had several LUVs and know a ton about these trucks but still find myself reading the manual on a weekly basis. We can and will help you along with the truck when you get it. I dont think there is a website out there with more knowledge then this one on the LUV.
