OK i did a search for camshaft but couln't find an answer.

What is the best way to break in a solid lifter cam. I bought a tight lash solid cam for my new motor. I am finally getting a chance to start putting it together and want to break in the cam right and not worry about hurting anything.
Only thing I know is it needs to be set hot.
Thanks

If you are running duel springs break the cam in with just the outer springs,Set the valves cold at about 2 thou. more then what you are going to run hot, this will give you a safe start up clearance

Use plenty of the cam lube on both the cam and the bottom of the lifters, make sure the motor is ready to run then when you start it run the motor at 2500-3000 rpms for at least 20 to 30 min.,it would also be helpful if you add a zinc additive to the oil on break in.

Now when this is done install the inner spring (if you have them) and my suggestion is to change the oil and filter add fresh zinc additive warm up the motor, adjust the valves then go have fun.
