TAKE A HEI DIS. PULL THE MODULE AND THROW IT AWAY . HOOK UP THE P/U WIRES TO A 6AL AND HOOK UP THE COIL WIRES UP TO THE 2 WIRES ON YOUR HEI COIL . WORKS GREAT FOR ANYBODY WHO NEVER TRIED THIS. BEEN RUNNING THIS SET UP FOR 3 YEARS

do you have to change the center bushing to a low resistance one?

I like the HEI for mild performance apps but I like the MSD billed distrib, blaster coil and a 7AL2. that dropped over .2 off my ET. vs. a tricked HEI.

we run the stock coil for a while then we got the converted cap for external coil a blaster 2. we just run the bushing that was in it. didn't seem to have any problems strumming our small block to 7500 rpm. i'm gonna run this same setup with my new motor only difference is now we will be using a newer model dis. they are smaller and you don't have to have that funky cap to run external coil. where we live its kind of hard to just run out and get one of these caps so i will be useing the newer style mag p/u . only problem with this for street use is the new dis. does not have a vacum advance. its all done in the computer. dragging my truck this don't matter because we always locked the old style dis in place and set our timing from there. the vacum advance just there to keep the p/u from turning.
