Well I took my clutch pedal out today when it decided it wanted to almost twist off and this is what I found. I read the post on how to prevent this so I will be making the bracket. But before I go off and weld this back together I have a couple questions. If you look close you can see the crack go's under where the main mounting bolt sits (pic 1). I want to make a plate to weld on the backside and re drill the hole does anyone see any problems with this modification (again pic 1)? If you look closelly (pic 2) at the pivot arm/stud that the pedal slides on it is cracked almost ALL the way around. Would it be ok to grind that down some so I could get a nice weld on it (pic 2)?
I know these may sound like newb questions but I kinda wanna make this be the only time I have to remove this thing.

EDIT: It appears the previous owner had tried to weld this while it was in the truck
