What model Healey? Sprite, 100, 100-6, 3000 Mk I, II, or III?

I can direct you to a wealth of AH information, that's what I grew up on....including restomods with Ford and Chevy power.

OK, my father sourced a cross-bored 1275 block, now displacing 1380 cc, makes about 140hp at a billion rpm. This engine is in his Speedwell prepared Bugeye, a little auto-cross vintage racer.

My favorite is the 67/68 Spridget (Sprite / Midget) roll up windows with the roadster top or the 73/74 Midget with the full rear wheel arches and the convertible top. I had two Sprites, a 62 and a 63. Really little, great mileage....

well the one i have is either a '64, '65, or a '66,
and does any one know if those years had smog pumps and that kinda crap, cuz i dont know if this is the origional motor from it... it was not in the car, just beside it, i would ask the owner(my uncle) but he is gunna be gone for a lil while, and did they come stock with dual carb setups? :?

All Sprites had dual carbs, yes. If there is an air pump, then the engine is a later 1275. Ditch the air pump, plug the exhaust manifold and go. The 5-speed conversion makes the car much more driveable than the original non-synchro first gear 4-speed.

WOW that Arkley kit takes me back to the good old days before I new thats what they were. I put a daimler 2.5 v8 [hemi ] in a 67 sprite with a 4 speed , both out of a crashed daimler dart. also changed the rearend . If you want to go with a 1275 bmc , try to get one out of an austin america as they do not have inspection plates on the side of the eng and are all cast in one therfore are a stronger block . With todays jap engines ,I am sure you have many possibilities good luck Jim

ok so i will get some pics of mine here tomorrow if i can find time!

but.... we may have a verry....."unique" car here. well, we took out all the carpet, and stripped off all the paint. ok so we have a huge bondo problem!!! like probably 4 or 5 gallons of it!!!! im not shitting you! well at the front of the doors, like the rocker pannels, there is a welded seam from one side of the car all the way to the other side!!! earlier, we noticed when we were stripping off the paint, that it wasnt the factory paint. the factory paint was underneith the crappy paint job some body shop did back prolly in 1970........ but!!!! the whole front of the vehicles stock paint was red, and tyhe whole ( from the weld mark back), was all green! we really didnt think anything about it, and nothing suspicious really even came to mind. so once i stripped off all the bondo, i finally saw the weld marks!!!! then i looked at the floof boards inside the car and was suprised i didnt see them when i took out the carpet! WE HAVE 2 DIFFERENT CARS!!!!! WELDED TOGETHER!!!!!! the welds wernt as bad job, but what caught us with such curiosity was...... origional owner bought it BRAND new in 1968, he sold it to my uncle in the summer of 1973. my uncle drove it for like 2 years and the tranny went to hell. so he pulled the motor and tranny, (tanny is in lika a tunnel, so you have to pull motor too) couldnt find anyone to rebuild the tranny so he jus left it sit in his garage...... my mom has been trying to get this car off him since the day he bought it!.....Well, this year he violated probation, and got sent to prison for a year... NO MONEY TO PAY FOR HIS TAXES!!!!!!!! he calls my mom the day he found out he was going to prisson and asked to borrow the like $300 for taxes, and she said no.... BUT... i will TRADE you the money for the austin!!!! he was like ok, ok, but you know its been sitting a long time, n i dont think its worth all that much, n its gunna take a lot to get it running again... so y dont you jus give me the money and ill pay it back, with interest when i get out. (he was trying to convince her not to get it, when he knew damn well it was worth that much!) so obviousley she said no but i still want the car, co then he finally gave in!!!! went n got it the next day! old little thing has rotted away in an old garage, under a tarp, the seats are gont, well the frames are there, but the material has completely deteriorated away! and then we got it and this is what happened through out its whole like 5 years!!! and my uncle never headr of anything about this whole thing, and my dad even called the original owner jus to see what happened, and jus to get a little history of the car, and he knew nothing about it!!! but we did find out that the dealer ship used it for about 4 months and then sold it to him...... could it be that they totaled it out and jus repaired it?????
