My neighbor with a BBC bracket car has been using race gas. The last couple of races he has used he used premium gas and octane booster. His cars performance has not changed, but the sound of the engine is drastically changed.
It used to sound like a race car, now it sounds like a street car...

I would have not dreamed of the difference of the car. It is a race only car. Not a hot engine, but still a high 6 sec. 1/8 mile car....

Any one tried both types of fuel?

Grandmaster of the "Shade Tree" way.. I can't see the yard for all the cars. Come on down and we will sit on the porch and watch the grass grow.

I hear alot of guys using e85 now because its way cheaper than race gas and its 105+ octane

guess it just depends on what the engine was ment for, both in terms of octane and types of fuel its able to use.

His son change this bracket dragster from alcohol to gasoline. I am not sure why and I have not seen it run, but it is something like a 13 to 1 compression engine. I think the fuel was almost the same price.

They paid $100 for 5 gallons at the bracket regional finals. Ouch... I am sure they bought it at the track.

I have been running 4 gallons of 93 and 1 gallon of c-16 . I carry 2 five gallon jugs to the track and top them off with the 116 there and just add what i need . I have been spraying 210 on this with no problems 10.5 to 1 with aluminum heads .

I always thought that octane booster was simply a detonation inhibitor.

I'm surprised he's getting the same performance. Is he re-tuning for each or just swapping the fuel and making a pass?

I was stupid.... I finally talked to him... He he had put the alcohol BBC, from his sons bracket dragster in it... They are getting a new engine for the dragster... His brother was the one that told me about the pump gas and octane booster.

Ben I think your are right on the effect of the octane booster.
