 Post subject: 2.6 trooper not charging

hey guys! my 89 trooper quit charging, tested the alt= bad. bought a new alt ad put it on and still not charging. i'm not getting power on the white/green wire coming out of the alt that goes to the relay for charge light. tested new alt= good. the truck will run with the relay out but will not charge,with the relay in the truck fire up and then shut off. any ideas?thanks
