Oregon used to require oxygenated fuel during part of the year and did recently switch to having it year round. I have not had any real problems with the 10% ethanol, but a few years back we were getting 10% Methanol and it seemed like every other year when the Methanol fuel showed up I'd be putting in a new fuel pump within a month or two. I don't know if it was the slightly caustic nature or if it just stripped varnish from the inner pump workings and they'd quit working but I got real tired of replacing those pumps. Like I said though, the E10 doesn't seem to be giving me the same issues.
The last time I had trouble with water in my tank I got some 99.9% rubbing alcohol instead of HEET or isoHEET. 1/4 the price for the same Isopropyl product. I've had my tank off and cleaned recently though so it didn't send much more junk into the filter.

This will no doubt start some heated conversations but being a fan of ethanol (corn liquor)i will enjoy controversy.

I'm not so much of a fan. Its not the product that I don't like though its the processes to produce it as a fuel. The return on investment is pretty bad, basically burning more fossil fuel to make than the ethanol you get out. It just irks me that so many people tout it as being so great for the environment when the truth is more pollution is caused making it than just buying a gallon of good old dino-gas. I'll be a lot more of a fan when they are able to produce it from waste biomass (cornstalks, switchgrass, etc) instead of using grains and jacking my food prices up. Right now it is mostly just a feel good move that costs us more money and doesn't help the environment a bit. I guess the good is that it has the fuel companies and automakers gearing up to deal with and utilize alternative fuels so they'll be ready when the numbers do start to add up.
