I started to post this information in the TB question, but it is way too much information and it will only raise too many questions. So will this too but here goes.

Fuel mileage doesn't payoff either way over a lot of miles. Stock Performance is not that much better either way, but EFI can be. Tuned port is a lot different in cost. That is what the later performance cars run. Even TB the big thing is the wiring and sensors. If that is not a problem then it might be worth the effort. MEGASQUIRT EFI http://www.megasquirt.info/ , http://www.msefi.com/index.php could be used for TB, it could be used with a tuned port setup, but it is a batch injection. That means it has only two firing of the injectors during one 360 deg. cycle of the engine. It could fire one injector and then the other on TB. Or in a 8 cyl engine with tuned port injection it would fire 1/2 (4) then the other half (4) After that. On a Chev you would follow the timing 1,8,4,3 then 6,5,7,2. This is a lot of information COMPRESSED into too small a space and may be too little and too much.... Just search for megasquirt in google or something and, read and read more on, if you want to learn about electronic fuel injection. Sequential EFI means that each injector will fire by itself and is what most performance engines use today.

Bosch has a lot of information on fuel injection. CIS and EFI. CIS, Continuous Injection System, http://home.hiwaay.net/~langford/CIS.html http://www.auto-solve.com/mech_inj.htm This is a mechanical system. It was used by VW, Porsche, Volvo and many other European car makers. EFI is electronic fuel injection. Bosch was the first that was used on a production can. It was a analog (no computer) system on the Volkswagen Type 3 cars. EFI , computer controlled would be, would be what we all have herd of.

For those people that want to lean about fuel injection, there is a world on information on the internet. I think it is interesting stuff, but to understand it will take a lot of reading and "figureing" stuff ought.

How do I know about this stuff? I have had VW type 3 and later VW CIS cars... Still have both. I have put a early Megasquirt on a Type 3 that some took off the FI and put carbs on. I also made a living at one time, working on Big Trucks

This could all be used on a LUV truck. I have seen a CIS system put on a aircooled VW, which never cane with this stuff. Megasquirt could be put on the Stock Luv engine with a some work, and desire too.

No I can not design a system for your truck, and I can't tell you what parts you will need to make it work on a LUV. I can point out some general thing that you would need to make something work. The hard work is up to you!!!!

YOUR TURN

Richard

I got a megasquirt efi computer that im putting together but i hiot a road blcok and my cable connector for my computer isnt working for me, but if you wanna run it on a stock luv then just get the intake off of an impulse, you wont need to run the spark control feature if you dont want to but ide suggest at least having an electronic ignition upgrade, i thought about even running the ford EDIS-4 system on it this is a nice electronic ignition but it requires having an ECM to control it... I plan on looking into it more, some people have said to jsut go T/B injected but i feel that the impulse intake will net you the best power... there is an aussie guy on here that goes by the name beano, he sells intakes and whole kits (minus ECM) and other cool thigs so if interested check it out...

When I did my Megasquirt, you had to build your own. Now there some people that will sell you one already built. If I remember mine is version 1. something... Maybe a version 2.0

MegaSpark EDIS is the ignition
MegaSquirtNSpark is both

I hope beano will jump in here too.
