First off I bought a motor for a rebuild project it was basically a short block. My first problem is for some reason I cannot get the flex plate to seperate from the crank. All the bolt are out it will spin on crank but it wont come off. What is the hold up? I plan on reusing the crank and I dont want to damage it. Next quesion: How do I remove the pistons from the rods? They appear to be press fit. Last question: I plan on reusing the rods but I want to upgrade the bolts. Are the bolts pressed in and how would the easiest way to go about removing the rod bolts?

The flywheel can be pryed off the crank. The rods are pressed on so they need to be pressed off.Not sure about the rod bolts.

Try some emery on the crank and then double side pry.

The pistons have to be pressed off.

The rod bolts can be changed but you should resize the rod after wards.

Now what you need to do is take the piston rod assy. to a machine shop and have the work done as this is NOT your average do it at home job. Also you should get the rotating assy balanced while you are doing the work as it is well worth the cost and will save you down the road.
