hello all tis been a while.

but i ran into an old buddy who has a 92 2wd sonoma that is in purty damn good shape, but he blew a rod in the ol 4 banger and is trying to get me to buy it for the v8 swap..

my questions are, i know a little about the s10 swaps and whatnot. but it is mostly for a truck with the 2.8 v6. basicially i would like to know what the capability and campability of a truck that came with the ol 4 cyl (guessin the duke) and a 5 spd manual tranny. like the coolin system, and clearance issues.

i have found the mounts of the v8s10 site, but just checkin here to get your 2 cents and info

i gotta mild v8 that needs to be run!! haha

thanks
duck

The 2.8 rad isn't really enough either. I've done a ton of these swaps and usually use a 77 to 80 malibu radiator, just have to slightly extend the rolled part of the radiator support to fit. The swap headers are crappy. Fenderwells work well but they limit the turn radius. Also, the S10 weighs more than a LUV. Good Luck.

i got ya... and i am not for sure on this swap.. it is merely an option.. cuz the luv swap has proved to be something that has kicked my ass many a time.. and after a little over 3 years of off and on work.. i am descouraged.

but back on topic.. the s10v8 site, they have radiators, mounts, headers, long tube and shorty and manuals..

my biggest thing i guess is, the shape and actual versatilty of the trucks. the luv is beat up pretty good, and the interior is not good, especially the dash. where as the sonoma is in great shape for the age.'

if i were to change and do the sonoma. i would keep the luv and make it a slower frame up resto...

1st jeggs has a swap kit for the s10.
2nd I have race a s10 for 3 years. It is not as hard as the luv swap but All swaps have issues.
Decide on one or the other and go for it.
just my 1/2 cents .

they have a manual on what you need to do for a v8 swap in an s10

I have one, and its very informative.

You can also buy all the parts that you will need from them too.
