Alright i know that the chevette is the holden gemini in australia, and the engines are different there then here for some stupid reason leaving us without g161 heads... My question is if in fact the cars are the same platform with different engines, then would the chevy luv engine fit into a chevette, and if thats the case then shouldnt a 2.6l isuzu engine fit aswell? just trying to get sdome infor for car buying... i plan on getting another car but it makes more sence to me to get one that has the same engine as my pick-up for compatability, and testing

thanks

Well, I don't know much about them, but I was able to find this info. I'm not sure if it helps you or not.

Its not only the same as the Holden Gemini, but the Isuzu Gemini. In the US it came with a 1.4, 1.6 or 1.8 Isuzu Diesel engine.

The trannys were a Saginaw 4 speed manual, a Borg Warner T5 manual 5 speed or a 3 speed auto.

As far as a LUV engine working, I think that the LUV Diesel engine probably would, as its probably the same as the ones used in the Chevette. As for other engines, if they'll bolt up to the tranny in the car, motor mounts might be the only issue. Thats a pretty easy fix though.

Not sure if this helps or not.

Good luck

alright so i know about the engines, but the 1.6l that came in the chevettes isnt the same isuzu engine that they have over seas, cause thats the ideal g series head, its the one that can be ported the best and will give the most amount of power for building a powerfull g series engine
