I was just curious if anyone has ever bought or can buy polyurethane round stock.

I need to find some body mounts and cant find any.

I dont think I could cut rubber on a lathe, but I am pretty sure I can cut polyurethane and make my own mounts.

You can buy polyurethane stock. Just do a web search for it. You might check on ebay too. A lot of rubber type products can be poured or molded if you make a pattern.

Poly mounts do not have any give. You almost get the same effect out of metal mounts. Rubber is used as a sound isolator.

Grandmaster of the "Shade Tree" way.. I can't see the yard for all the cars. Come on down and we will sit on the porch and watch the grass grow.

Humm...very good point about road noise and vibration.

I still have the old ones...of course they are worn out pretty bad though.

I wonder if s-10 body mounts are remotely close?

The mounting points in the cab have to be cut out and welded in, since they arent hardly there anymore.

Check with your local machine shops as allot of them will have some urethane or similar material on stock.
But like PapaG said there will be no give in them , that is why i had my cab mounts made out of Alum. and to stiffen my truck. Also i used 7/16 grade 8 bolts just in case as i have had my truck close to the 150 mark.
But now it's time for the cage.

A trick I used on a Rambler when I couldn't find door trim:

I filled the cracks with rtv, used blue painters tape to hold the shape, let it all dry and then dipped the rubbers in some of that black tool handle goop. Came out really nice and very durable. Would be even easier with the body mounts, if they're a bit ugly no one will care...

Since the mounts have all been pulled on my cab, I plan to do this before I put them back in.

If you find rubber stock that would work, or mounts from another truck you can use, please let us all know...
