Bought a new stereo for the Luv, its a JVC with WMA & MP3 capabilities. I don't know much about these features. Any one care to give me a quick lesson. Thanks

WMA and MP3 are file formats for music files. This means that your player is capable of playing a CD with mp3 or wma files on it. Really only benefit will be sound quality and the number of files you can put on your CD. :D

So do i need to download a program that will let me burn my original disks to mp3 / wma format? Any one know of a good one? Thanks

Windows media player will automaticaly rip CD's to WMA(Windows Media Audio). If you have Windows XP or similar OS, then you have it already.

You can also have it download the CDDB and id3 tags for the music, and append the file names of albums & tracks. Then, like on most WMA capable audio systems, it will display the album and/or track info.

Does your stereo also have ports for USB & SD flash cards? Mine has both, which is kinda handy. My truck rides a bit rough, being a 4x4, so I don't have to worry about CD skipping issues, I keep lot of tunes on a couple GB SD cards.

And a CDR will hold roughly 130+ tracks in decent MP3 format.

Me too...I use a sd card or plug in a 1 gig usb flash pen drive. I also have a 5 gig seagate mini hard drive that I plug in on long trips so I don't have to carry any cd's anymore.

And Oz...your cd player wil play normal purchased music cd's, so there is no need to re-burn them to any other format. They just designed your cd player so that if you copied mp3's or wma's from the internet and burned them on a blank cd it would play them.

I dont like having my original cd,s rattling round the glove box, im going to burn them all to mp3/ wma. This way i'll have less disc's in the g box too. Should have done more research, a usb port or memory card slot would have been nice. It does have a input soket for i pods tho.

I run an Ipod in both of my trucks and my boat, once you get used to using them they are the only way to go. My advice if you are going to go this route get the smallest ipod that will hold the music you like. I have a 2gig and a 10gig ipod. I have about 2500 songs on my computer and have all of them on my 10 gig ipod but when it comes down to music I like to listen to every day I couldn't even fill up my 2gig ipod. Its really hard to come up with 250-300 songs that you really like to listen to everyday, and price difference between the two is quite a bit.
