I have a set of NGK BPR6ES plugs in my stock Luv, but one of them is fouling. Can I drop in my spare set of NGK GR45 plugs? Much hotter plug I think, the ceramic is easily 1/8" longer than the 6ES. The truck runs really COLD now, and the temp guage sits very low, thermostat is working and the anti-freeze is good to 210/-5.
I'm concerned about long term effects. What happens if I run a plug hotter than stock, long term? Should I put all four in, or just one in the leaky cylinder? Do I need to be concerned about the coil or electronic dizzy? Should I just play it safe and buy a $4 non-fouler?
I'm guessing I've got a damaged or broken oil control ring on that cylinder, but I have no ambition to tear down this engine.
