The lift of the cam determines the spring rate you need to use. It's best to have the spring pressure checked to see if they will work with your cam if you are not installing new springs. Too much spring pressure will wipe out the camshaft lobes, not enough, and you have coil bind, dropped valves, and other nasty stuff. Not many stock springs go to .500 with a hydraulic. Solid lift cams will be even less. This is one area I don't recommend skimping on.
